Pros and cons of the Troika sauna stove: structural differences from other types of heaters

Regular visits to the sauna are a great way to relax, support your immune system and improve your overall health. That is why many of us dream of building a compact bathhouse complex on our own plot. And the “heart” of the wooden structure is the stove, the performance characteristics of which determine the quality of the steam in the steam room and the effectiveness of the bath procedure. For decades now, the Troika sauna stove has held the palm among similar designs. What is the secret of its popularity?

Troika is one of the most reliable oven equipment on the market

Stainless steel models

The updated models, made of stainless steel, are distinguished by the fact that their heat-transfer surface area is approximately doubled.
In the manufacturing process of such Troika furnaces, high-quality scale-resistant steel is used, which is sufficiently ductile so that cracks do not form on the body. Thanks to all this, the weight of the devices was halved, but the service life remained the same. In addition, the structures are additionally equipped with stiffening ribs that increase their strength. Important information! Such stoves are designed for brick lining. A convection control function is provided, which means that the climate of a real Russian bath is created in the steam room.

This model range consists of four items; let’s look at their characteristics.

Peculiarities

The Gorynych 3 sauna stove is designed for heating a steam room, as well as adjacent locations. During the heating process, thick, high-quality steam is formed, ideal for steam rooms. Buyers can choose from two model options – with a tank on the right and left side. The model can only be used on the basis of baths with an individual washing compartment. Thick material ensures long service life. The thickness of the firebox is 8 millimeters. The volume of the water tank is 100 liters.

For high reliability, manufacturers used organosilicate enamel. During the first use, a polymerization process occurs, which gives the coating its final strength.

Installation features

Installation of Troika cannot be called a simple process. This is due to the large weight of the structure - from 120 to 360 kg. That is, you cannot do without a foundation that is strong and resistant to increased loads. If the foundation was not built during the construction of the bathhouse, an alternative can be a reinforced concrete slab, the thickness of which will depend on the mass of the stove - from 15 to 20 cm.

When laying a foundation, the width and length of which should be 15 cm greater than the dimensions of the structure, it should be taken into account that it will be necessary to maintain a distance between the wall and the lined stove - about 30 cm. If this is not possible, the walls are protected by installing a sheet of asbestos cardboard.

To ensure the necessary waterproofing, the foundation is covered with two layers of roofing material. After this, they begin laying out the basement or underground part of the furnace. For this, any brick (solid) can be used. The bricks are connected to each other using cement-sand mortar. If the project provides for a supply ventilation device, a ventilation pipe is installed in the base.

To construct a chimney, it is best to use a “sandwich” pipe, which is subsequently lined with bricks to maintain the unity of style with the stove

Tsar-furnaces

Bath Tsar-stoves are produced by a plant of the same name. The designers of the plant took care of the reliability of their products, their technological functionality and maximum user convenience. The sauna stove is a one-piece structure; it is made with one welded seam.

The dimensions of the Tsar Stove are quite compact, which allows it to be installed in almost any room. However, it is quite heavy, weighing about 80 kg. The Tsar-Oven is based on a thick-walled pipe (8 mm). The body pipe is the same firebox. The design contains a minimum number of butt seams, which is a big plus for the durability (more than 20 years) and safety of the product.

A special feature of the Tsar Stoves is the design of the heater and firebox. The location of these blocks is intended for installation in two adjacent rooms. Thanks to this solution, the steam room and the relaxation room, separated by a partition, are heated at once and strict fire safety measures are carried out. In addition, a feature of this device is a very spacious firebox, where large and long logs can be placed (40-80 cm, based on the size of the model).

The doors of the Tsar Furnace in conventional models are made of solid metal. But if the device is made to order, then the plant produces versions of the furnace with heat-resistant glass. The door opens from right to left or left to right.

For a separate location of the stove and firebox (through a partition), the design has a long combustion channel. Various modifications of the Tsar Stove use a standard chimney (155 mm), while powerful models use a 130 mm chimney. The location of the smoke exhaust pipe depends on the design of the firebox - horizontal or vertical.

The heater in the Tsar Furnace is only of the open type; it can hold 40-90 kg of stones. The time it takes to prepare the steam room for operating mode depends on this amount. The downside of the stove is the emission of harmful radiation from the red-hot metal body, so experts recommend covering it with a brick sarcophagus.

What is the beauty of Tver heaters

The Troika line of stoves, Tver, among similar products, stands out as particularly massive, since high-alloy steel with a thickness of 8-40 mm was used for production. Such a considerable thickness in the area of the combustion chamber significantly increases the heat transfer and service life of the product (up to 15 years), preventing the metal from burning out at high temperatures.

Since the weight of the product reaches several hundred kilograms, to facilitate movement when installing the stove, the Troika bathhouses were equipped with wheels. For lovers of the Russian steam room, stoves are made in various modifications, including with an open heater and a mesh for stones, as well as with the ability to heat water.

The large volume of loaded stones – up to 250 kg – makes the atmosphere in the Russian steam room optimally meeting the highest criteria, providing air heating to 70 ºС and a humidity level of up to 80% in 2 hours. During this time, the stones can heat up to 500 ºС. And the water, overcoming several layers of stones, is broken into small drops, which as a result produces fine, light steam for which Russian baths are so famous.

Tver furnace equipment is also the safest: furnaces lined with brick or lined with soapstone are not capable of causing burns or harm to health. Minimal maintenance functions: the channel and window are cleaned once every five years, and ash is regularly thrown out after heating. A well-written installation guide for the Troika sauna stove makes its installation as easy as possible, even for people who have never performed such work before.

Appendix: How to choose a sauna stove based on power?

It would seem that everything is simple. Manufacturers of sauna stoves always indicate what volume of steam room a particular model is intended for. Well, the volume itself is also calculated without any problems - by multiplying the length, width and height of the room.

And it is recommended to select the oven so that the calculated volume is approximately in the middle of the range specified by the manufacturer.

But there are some nuances that are still recommended to be taken into account. The volume of a fully heated room indicated by the manufacturer can still be called a “reference” volume. In other words, this is an “ideal” steam room in which there is practically no heat loss. In reality, it happens somewhat differently, that is, not all baths correspond to this “ideal”.

It’s okay - you can calculate such a “virtual volume”, which will already take into account all the nuances of the steam room design. And a special online calculator will help with this.

Below are some explanations on how to use the application.

Calculator for determining the required power of a sauna stove

Go to calculations

Explanations for calculations

The calculation is not complicated:

  • To begin, enter the dimensions of the steam room in the appropriate fields.
  • The next step is to evaluate the walls. Very often, when building a bathhouse, the walls are fully insulated, including thermal insulation with a reflective foil layer. And only after that they are sheathed with natural boards (lining). This state of affairs can be taken as a standard. But when building a bathhouse in a log house made of logs or beams, insulation is sometimes skimped on, leaving the wooden walls as they are, without any subsequent finishing at all. And to heat such an array of wood, additional power will be required.
  • Next, the principle of installing the furnace is taken into account. If it is completely located in the steam room, all the heat remains here. When the firebox is moved into the dressing room, the generated heat is partially consumed outside. That is, it makes sense to make a small amendment.
  • Doors may be a way for heat to escape from the steam room. It’s one thing when the door leaf is very precisely fitted to the opening and has internal thermal insulation, and another thing when the door is a simple board-type panel, or, as has become fashionable not so long ago, even glass. The program will make adjustments for this circumstance.
  • The steam room may also have a window. If it exists, and this is indicated in the calculator, then two additional data entry fields will appear in which you should indicate the type of window and its area (if there are several windows, the total area).
  • Finally, in the “ideal steam room” all surfaces are finished in wood. In reality, something else is also found - areas, moreover, quite large in area, lined with ceramic tiles or stone. And due to the very high heat capacity of these materials, an appropriate correction can be made. An additional data entry field will appear in which you should indicate the total area of such lined areas.

Features of Troika sauna stoves

And this is what can happen as a result

The manufacturer states that high-thickness low-alloy steel is used to make the stoves: 10 mm, 20 mm, and in some places 40 mm thick. The zones in the furnace where the flame is present are made of steel 20 mm thick (40 mm on request), the remaining walls are made of 10 mm. And it seems that what has been said can be trusted: it is possible to lift not the largest unit only with four people, and even then not every model.

The internal structure of the furnace is kept secret; in any case, there are no sectional photographs or drawings. All that can be said is that the firebox is below, and there is a container for stones on top. The remote firebox tunnel allows heating from the dressing room. For the firebox, logs of a decent length are used - from 60 cm and more.

The heater maintenance and water supply doors are located in the steam room. It is possible to install a “water distribution system” - a steam gun. This system allows you to supply water to the hottest part of the heater, producing well-heated “light” steam.

Everything is welded in good faith; during operation, the walls do not burn out for years, even with hard use.

Adjustable convection ovens

Not everyone is happy with installing a brick screen. Therefore, the designers of Troika stoves have developed models that do not require the construction of screens. They are equipped with a specially designed casing and a temperature control system. After the steam room has reached the desired temperature, by turning the valve, all the heat is directed to heating the stones. In this way, a normal microclimate and well-heated stones are achieved.

This is the Troika 6RM1 model from different angles

The technical characteristics of Troika metal stoves with a closed heater are summarized in the table.

Technical characteristics of Troika ovens with adjustable convection (to increase the size of the table, right-click on the picture)

The large mass of stones and thermal inertia make it possible not only to maintain the temperature at the proper level for several hours, but also to dry the premises well after the steam room.

Solutions for special conditions

Troika stoves, photos of which you can see in the article, are sometimes equipped with a heat exchanger. Such devices allow you to heat not only the steam room, but also adjacent rooms such as a sink, as well as a dressing room. If you are on a limited budget and the steam room has a small area, then on sale you can find models that are small in size and equipped with a convector. We are talking about model number 7, the size of which is 50x50 centimeters. This option is installed in small steam rooms, for which the manufacturer abandoned the remote firebox, adding a 60-liter water tank to the device, which is located on the pipe.

Brick screen stoves

There are six modifications of the stove in this group - from inexpensive models with a simple “face” to those decorated with ornaments. You can put them in small steam rooms - 12 cubic meters, and in large ones up to a decent 30-40 cubic meters. The heaters are internal and can hold a lot of stones. When used correctly, high humidity is easily maintained and the brooms do not dry out.

Technical characteristics of Troika stoves with brick lining (to increase the size of the table, right-click on the picture)

The Troika 4P model has a lower price and weight: it is made of 8 mm thick steel (in loaded areas the steel thickness is 20 mm).

Cheaper modifications are equipped with cast iron doors without glass as standard. If desired, they will supply you with glass (you need to choose according to the size of the combustion outlet). All units are equipped with a damper on the pipe (handle on the smoke pipe). This is a big plus: an additional regulator of draft and combustion intensity. Moreover, you don’t have to go to the dressing room, which is not always desirable.

If necessary, water can be heated using a stove: they are equipped with heat exchangers and a remote tank. Only in this case you need to look: the stoves have high power, and whether the water will boil quickly if there is no flow.

Brick-lined stoves - monumental

The troika stove models “5P Gothic” and “3P” simultaneously heat the room from which the firebox is produced. For this purpose, there are openings on the front panel above the door that are adjustable by a flap. The air flow escaping into the dressing room (rest room) is in no way connected with convection in another part of the oven and does not take heat away from the stones.

Design features

A distinctive feature of the entire model range is the thick walls of the combustion chamber (the top element is 10 mm, the walls on the sides are 8 mm). In manufacturing, as noted above, low-alloy steel is used. This ensures a long service life of the device, and due to the fact that the fuel channel is of a remote type, the firebox can be removed from the dressing room, and the thickness of the walls does not play a special role.

Stove for Russian bath

The volume of the water heating tank depends on the specific model. For example, for models No. 1 and No. 5 (the model range is discussed in more detail below) it is 72 liters, and for stove No. 2 it is up to 80 liters. It is worth noting that the location of the tanks is quite convenient - they are located on the front side, which makes maintenance much easier, especially in those baths where there is no running water and water has to be poured in a bucket. Moreover, such devices can be installed even in steam rooms with low ceilings, which cannot be said about models in which the tank is located on the chimney pipe. And if the need arises, it can be removed and washed at any time, since the design features allow it.

Furnace with water tank and heat exchanger connection diagram

The chimney pipes that are equipped with Troika sauna stoves have a large diameter, therefore, no problems with draft will arise, no matter what the weather is like outside. And there shouldn’t be any difficulties with cleaning the chimney - you can easily do it yourself (for this purpose, a special cleaning device is installed in the side of the heat generator). The doors are made of cast iron and are resistant to high temperatures. The grates are also cast iron and have standard sizes.

Troika stove - installation in a bathhouse. Cast iron doors, brick lining

If we talk about the appearance of the devices, then the issue of aesthetics is solved with heat-resistant enamel. True, it is still recommended to line the stoves with brick. Moreover, some of them were originally designed for such cladding.

Diagram of a brick-lined stove

The manufacturer has done everything possible so that the consumer can choose the most suitable option for himself. Thus, for people with low incomes, a budget version of the Troika (model No. 7) has been created, which has small dimensions (50x50 cm) and is equipped with a convector. This model can be installed even in the smallest steam rooms, for which the manufacturer abandoned the remote firebox and equipped the device with a 60-liter water tank (located on the pipe).

Furnace lining

In addition to laying the foundation, direct installation of the stove structure and its connection to the chimney, installation work in most cases includes lining with refractory bricks.

At the first stage, a clay solution is prepared, which is used to make spherical samples, which are shaped into a cake and left to dry for 10 days. Samples are made in different ratios of clay and fine-grained sand, preferably mountain sand and carefully sifted from debris. The proportions are as follows:

  • 1 sample: clay;
  • 2 sample: 9 parts clay and 1 sand;
  • 3 sample: sand and clay in a ratio of 1 to 3;
  • 4 sample: 3 parts sand, 1 part clay.

Dried samples are tested for strength. To do this, each cake is raised 1 meter above a hard surface and released. An unbroken sample is the optimal mixing option for brickwork. The solution is mixed, filled with water and left for 3 days to impart the necessary elasticity.

You can also use a ready-made mixture, sold at any hardware store. The clay-sand composition is convenient to use, but it has a significant drawback - the ratio of components is not always stable. In this case, the composition is brought to the ideal level by adding pure clay (if the solution turns out to be “lean”) or sand (if the solution turns out to be greasy). To increase the strength of the masonry, you can add cement to the solution - 400 grams per bucket. The average consumption of the finished mixture is 1 bag per 80 bricks.

  1. Before starting work, the material is moistened with water. This will improve the quality of adhesion between clay and sand and brick.
  2. The solution is applied on top of the previous level.
  3. The first level of quality refractory bricks is made from whole bricks. They start from the far corner. At the next level, use ¾ of the block, subsequently observing this order. This makes it possible to connect the rows with the highest quality possible.
  4. During the finishing work, all additional furnace elements are installed.
  5. An opening necessary for further maintenance of the stove is left in the sash area.
  6. The masonry is carried out up to the upper level of the stove structure, but it is necessary to leave a small gap between the brick wall and the metal structure (8-10 cm). The gap is necessary for uniform heating of the brick screen and proper air circulation.

The stove is started after installing the chimney, starting at low temperatures for 20-30 minutes

Heater stoves for metal baths

As for metal products, it is worth adding to their advantages:

  • Compact and can be installed anywhere.
  • Low cost of material.
  • Operational installation of the unit.
  • Instant heat transfer.

Attention: to build a heater stove from metal, you must be able to work with a welding machine. But such stoves also have disadvantages:

But such stoves also have disadvantages:

  • High heat that can cause burns.
  • Fast cooling.

To protect yourself as much as possible from hot metal, it is recommended to make protective screens of brick for such structures.

Combined brick and metal stoves are considered an ideal option.

The lineup

Depending on what kind of bathhouse the owner plans to arrange, the appropriate equipment is selected. This question is considered before purchasing a stove, since a model intended for a Russian bathhouse is in no case suitable for a Japanese or Finnish bathhouse. To meet the needs of users, stove makers from Tver have produced stoves for:

  • ofuro;
  • saunas;
  • Russian bath;
  • B-B-Q.

The development of bath stoves was primarily focused on the production of equipment for Russian baths, therefore, among the wide model range, there are various variations of Troika stoves, which most effectively provide the most comfortable conditions specifically for a traditional Slavic bath. There are several variations on the theme of stove equipment for traditional steam rooms:

  • for lining with bricks to stop convection and create soft thermal radiation;
  • heaters with a mesh for laying stones in such quantities that the steam is really light;
  • stoves lined with soapstone, chosen not only for its excellent heat transfer qualities, but also for its pleasant appearance. Facing made from such stone can be used for decades without reducing its performance and decorative qualities.

The variety of shapes and functions makes the choice difficult even for avid bathhouse attendants, because you can purchase stoves that will not only warm you up, provide steam, but also decorate your bathhouse. Among the decorated options, the following stand out:

  • barrel stove;
  • barbecue oven;
  • stove with metal pattern;
  • with painting in the style of Khokhloma;
  • with painting in a Gothic spirit.

Models for commercial baths

The next model range consists of stoves designed specifically for commercial use (for example, in bath complexes or public baths). The traditional design was changed - the developer supplemented it with stiffeners and increased the thickness of the heat-receiving plate to 40 mm. Thanks to all this, Troika commercial ovens can be operated under the most severe conditions.

Pellet burner 15M

If you install such a burner in a heater, then the entire firebox will be reduced to igniting it (the burner) (this takes about 15-20 minutes). Then the device is heated without human intervention for 5-10 hours. What is typical is that the burner is compatible not only with metal, but also with brick sauna stoves. In the second case, it literally heats the brick red-hot, which allows you to get high-quality light steam.

Pellet burner 15M

Dimensions of the pellet burner are 110x50x25 cm, power is 15 kW. The weight of the device is 12.5 kg, and the consumption of solid fuel is 3.3. The average cost of a burner is 18,600 rubles.

Performance characteristics

“Russian steam” in the steam room is provided due to the presence of a water supply receiving bowl in the lower section of the heater. The temperature in this section of the structure reaches 650 degrees, which allows you to get maximum wet steam with a minimum of effort on the part of the bathhouse attendant.

Important! If necessary, the stove operates in dry steam supply mode, which is typical not for baths, but for saunas. It is enough to learn how to control the convection flow.

The heater is located separately from the firebox. This means you won't have to regularly clean soot-covered stones.

Design Features

The Troika stove has design differences from other types of sauna stoves. And the first of them is the diameter of the chimney. For “Troikas” it is 159 mm. This allows the stove to operate in any weather conditions, in which other equipment may have problems filling the steam room with heat.

The cast iron door is not afraid of high temperatures. The same can be said about the grate. Some models can be equipped with a heat exchanger, which allows you to warm up not only the steam room, but also the dressing room, shower room and other rooms.

The chimney is equipped with a damper designed to comply with current safety standards. If it is blocked, carbon monoxide will still be released into the chimney. Another design feature of all Troika models is the simultaneous and uniform combustion of all logs in the firebox.

The thickness of the low-alloy steel walls deserves special attention. Metal 8 mm thick is used for the walls, the upper part is made of steel 10 mm thick. This makes the stove truly reliable and durable.

Many owners of bathhouses equipped with stoves from other manufacturers complain about the small amount of stones that can be placed in the stove - 40-80 kg. There is no such problem with Troika. You can put up to 250 kg of stone in it, which allows you to maintain the optimal temperature in the steam room for a long time and save on fuel.

A large number of stones retain the heat received from hot metal longer

Models of sauna stoves from the manufacturer Kutkin

What else can you tell about Kutkin’s sauna stoves? They are distinguished by their highly reliable design and boast a wide range. Any model from the “standard” series has a warranty of up to two years, and the service life of the stoves reaches ten years. In general, such stoves have a whole list of advantages:

  • The Kutkin stove is easy to install.
  • Its low weight does not create problems during transportation - even one person can carry it!
  • High quality of materials used in production - durable chrome-plated steel is not afraid of either moisture or high temperatures.
  • Fuel consumption is almost three times less than in other designs.
  • Kutkin stoves can operate on any fuel - gas, solid and diesel fuel to choose from.
  • Several operating modes.
  • Compact dimensions.
  • Affordable price.
  • Fire safety.
  • Heating the room + heating water for washing.

Models for ofuro

For those who don’t know, ofuro is a traditional Japanese bathhouse, which is a wooden barrel filled with water. A stove is needed here to heat the water.

Ofuro

Models for ofuro can be of two types:

submersible (installed inside a barrel, working under water); external (located on the side or standing separately).

The line is represented by only two models; let’s look at the characteristics of each of them.

Model for ofuro (first version)

Model for ofuro (first version)

High-quality oven made of AISI 340 steel (the latter is not subject to corrosion, as it is classified as food grade stainless steel). It is distinguished by the presence of stiffening ribs, ease of cleaning from ash and special legs for fastening to the floor. Model dimensions – 80x30x110 cm, weight – 50 kg. The maximum volume of water that can be heated is 2,800 liters. The diameter of the chimney pipe is 11 cm.

Model for ofuro (second option)

Model for ofuro (second option)

Model for ofuro (second option with open door)

The characteristics here are almost the same, the stove differs from the previous one only in weight (46 kg), dimensions (58x44x60 cm) and maximum water volume (2,300 l).

Models with a water heating tank

Almost all Troika stoves can be equipped with such a tank, and some of them are already equipped with it as standard. The volumes of tanks vary, and the design features of heating devices for a bathhouse provide for their (tanks) installation at almost any point in the structure or room.

The location of the tank can be as follows:

on the front side of the body, above the combustion chamber (for example, model No. 2, open-type heater); on the chimney pipe (like model No. 7, intended for a sauna); on the left or right side (models with an open heater intended for a sauna).

The tanks themselves, by design, can be:

connected to the water supply system (work under pressure, can be connected to a shower); autonomous (operate from atmospheric pressure, i.e. water drains by gravity).

In the first case, viscous plastic “stainless steel” is used in production; in the second, rather cheap chromium steel is used.

Gas stoves "Troika"

Gas models are popular in those baths that are located inside the house. Such furnaces do not require any special maintenance, but they have four degrees of protection:

  • from voltage surges;
  • from attenuation;
  • from lack of traction;
  • from surges in fuel pressure.

Another advantage is that the user, having previously set the temperature sensor to the required temperature, will be able to use the steam room even for several days in a row, without fear that the temperature will drop (the device itself controls these parameters). Gas models are also great for commercial baths. So, in standby mode (for example, at 55-60°C) “Troika” can remain for quite a long time, and if necessary, the temperature rises to the desired value in a record short time.

The burner is quite easy to control - you just need to press one button and adjust the temperature with the rotary knob. Even an untrained user can handle this.

GrayVari bath stoves are manufactured in Russia, which has been on the heating equipment market since 1997. Models of this brand are created taking into account the most advanced technologies in this field, they are distinguished by consistent quality and high technology.

Greyvari sauna stoves have another important advantage - reasonable cost

Technological characteristics and features of GrayVary devices:

  1. Large firebox volume (45-100 l, depending on the model).
  2. The heater can hold up to 90 kg of stones (affects the quality of steam).
  3. Inter-wall air flow convention (prevents walls from overheating).
  4. Special design of the bottom of the heater (no welding seams).
  5. Protective screen for the rear wall against overheating (redirects heat to the secondary combustion chamber).
  6. Special grate design for self-cooling.
  7. Curved casing shape instead of welded seams.

Greyvari stoves can be installed in a small or large sauna. The design of this device allows you to simultaneously warm up the steam room, washing room and rest room. Thus, a compact, productive stove appears in the steam room, and a luxurious fireplace in the relaxation area. Both rooms receive optimal heat with minimal energy consumption.

Advantages and disadvantages of the Troika sauna stove

In winter, “Troika” takes about three hours to heat up, in summer – much faster. Bathing procedures do not require a lot of firewood, and the heat can last until the morning. Consumers are happy: an inexpensive stove works for two people.

In addition, a sauna stove has the following advantages:

  • Thick metal significantly increases the service life of the structure.
  • The stove elements have a convenient location.
  • The heater has a large volume that can hold 250 kg. Thanks to such a number of stones, wonderful steam is obtained and the heat capacity increases.
  • The chimney diameter is 159 mm. Thanks to this diameter, the stove works great in all weather conditions. In addition, there is no need to frequently clean the chimney.
  • The stove is equipped with a chimney damper. This is a very important point. This valve is manufactured taking into account safety standards. Even if it is closed, all carbon monoxide goes into the chimney.
  • The stove firebox is made in such a way that all the wood inside it burns at the same time.

There are also disadvantages to this design. These include:

In all other respects, this stove design is quite good and justifies its cost.

Construction of the Troika stove for a bath

Many bathhouse attendants like the thickness of the metal of the Troika stove, as well as the ability to load logs up to 80 cm long. In this case, they will not need to be cut or find the desired format. In addition, the oven doors are made of cast iron, as are the grates. They have the following qualities:

  • very resistant to high temperatures;
  • do not deform over the years.

Using special windows in the stove body, you can quite easily regulate the convection of hot air, which is impossible to achieve with an open heater.

The stone load in a sauna stove can reach 250 kg, and the steam room can heat up in two hours. The tank of this design is removable, and it can be easily removed and washed when necessary.

In order for the sauna stove to produce high-quality steam, a special bowl is provided for this, which is used to supply water to the lower part of the heater. In this case, the liquid will not be able to get on the metal in any way. The steam thus passes from the hottest part of the heater into the steam room lighter.

Model range of Troika stoves for baths

models 01 and 05 are capable of heating 72 liters of water

The Troika stove has a chimney with a large diameter. In this case, there should be no problems with poor traction, despite the weather conditions. You can clean the chimney yourself. For this purpose, there is a special cleaning device located on the side of the structure.

covered with special heat-resistant enamel

Manufacturers of such heating devices have made sure that every consumer finds everything he needs in the stove.

For example, for fairly wealthy people, model 07 is perfect. Thanks to its small size, it fits perfectly into a small steam room. This model is equipped with a convector. The tank in it is installed at 60 liters, which is located on a pipe, and the manufacturers removed the remote firebox completely.

Sauna stoves

When heating a sauna, the tasks are completely different: we need to warm up the room as quickly as possible, and then simply maintain the set temperature. The humidity in this mode is very low - otherwise you won’t be able to withstand it. That’s why the designs of the stoves are different: it is necessary to organize good convection - the movement of air along the walls of the body and through the steam room.

To do this, a protective convective casing is placed around the firebox, at a distance of several millimeters. Protective - because the firebox heats up to very high temperatures and even a short touch can cause a serious burn. And convective, because cold air is actively sucked into the gap formed below, and comes out from above already well heated. This is how the same convection is organized.

How does a sauna stove work?

The presence of a casing still does not protect against burns: even the screen heats up significantly. Therefore, it is advisable to place a wooden fence around the stove that will prevent you from touching the iron even by accident.

Sauna stoves also contain stones. They also, like in bathhouses, soften hard radiation. But their number is incomparably smaller, as are the temperatures to which they heat up. The design of the heater in sauna stoves is open. In it, the stones are constantly blown. And this is needed to heat up the steam room faster. Due to the blowing, the temperature of the stones does not rise above 200-250°. The steam from them with a large amount of water turns out wet and heavy. But you don’t need a lot of it in a sauna. Here they pour a little herbal infusion onto the heater to aromatize the air, and not to produce a large amount of steam.

Troika stoves for saunas. Modifications 7B and 7T

Troika sauna stoves are made of 5 mm thick steel; in the most loaded areas, 10 mm thick steel is used. The firebox is formed by stamping and bending, which reduces the number of seams. The design is thought out so that welding occurs in the most unloaded places. The resulting stove is reliable: the manufacturer provides a 3-year warranty and costs relatively little. Technical characteristics of Troika sauna stoves are given in the table.

The tanks that come with the kit are made of AISI 430 stainless steel. The volume of water tanks is 40-60 liters, depending on the model. If desired, you can install a heat exchanger with a remote tank (volume 72 or 100 liters).

Features of operation

You should start with the transportation and installation of stoves, because everything here is not as good as we would like. The weight of the Troikas is quite large (from 120 kg to 390 kg), so it is difficult to install them. Otherwise, the installation procedure is the same as for other metal stoves.

The installation process is regulated by SNiP 41-01-2003.

Installation Requirements

If we take into account the brick lining, then the Troika stove needs a separate foundation. Although there is a positive point: you won’t have to worry about thieves stealing a heavy 300-kilogram stove.

Models for Russian baths

Stove for Russian bath Troika

Most of the products of the Tver company are intended specifically for use in Russian bathhouses, and mainly for brick lining. Many people are perplexed: why cover it with bricks at all? The fact is that the brick “casing” not only helps to ensure a soft microclimate in the steam room, but also protects steamers from hard IR radiation created by heated metal. On the contrary, the thermal radiation emanating from clay bricks is pleasant and beneficial for the body, and it does not burn.

Stoves for the Russian bath "Troika" are divided into several categories:

  • models for brick lining;
  • models with mesh;
  • devices with convection control.
  • Let's look at each of the categories in more detail.

    Stove for Russian bath Troika Barrel

    Brick-lined stoves

    Such stoves, we repeat, occupy the lion’s share of all the company’s stoves intended for Russian baths. The category includes six models, the technical parameters of which are presented here in table form for greater convenience.

    Sauna stoves with mesh

    The mesh around the device, covered with stones, is a kind of screen that protects against hard IR radiation from metal. All stoves in this category - and it is represented by only two models - are quickly installed and require virtually no maintenance during further operation. Both models look aesthetically pleasing, have high heat capacity, heat up quickly and cool down slowly.

    Oven No. 1R “Barrel”

    Stove for Russian bath No. 1R Barrel

    One of the best models of the company, which does not require a brick lining. Weighing 360 kg, this oven has a power of 36 kW and is designed for a room of up to 30 m³. The maximum weight of loaded stones is 600 kg.

    The model is traditionally made of 10 mm low-alloy steel and painted with special heat-resistant enamel. Equipped with a Finnish-made cast iron fireplace door SVT-405. Dimensions: 80x70x150 cm.

    Wheels for transportation

    Below are other features of the Barrel:

  • possibility of equipping with a water tank (volume - no more than 100 l), as well as a heat exchanger;
  • lack of convection in the heater;
  • heating stones from five sides at once;
  • a closed heater, which ensures maximum heating of the stones;
  • the ability to control the valve from the dressing room;
  • large diameter of the chimney pipe, which ensures excellent draft regardless of weather conditions;
  • the ability to turn the heater on the device in one direction or another;
  • spacious firebox (depth – 80 cm).
  • It is also equipped with special wheels for more convenient movement. The stove costs 88,050 rubles.

    Barrel

    Furnace No. 6M2 “Grid”

    Stove for Russian bath No. 06M2 mesh

    This model differs from its analogue of the same name in that it does not require a brick lining. With a weight of 230 kg and a power of 27 kW, the device is capable of heating a room with a volume of up to 16 m³. The maximum weight of loaded stones is 250 kg, the combustion chamber door is cast iron, without glass. The spacious closed heater produces a large amount of steam; water is supplied to the lower part of the heater (the same as the previous model).

    It is possible to adjust the intensity of water heating in the external tank. The oven heats up in just 1.5-2 hours. The cost of the model is 38,100 rubles.

    Models with convection control

    This model range is intended for those who, despite certain circumstances (for example, the inability to build a base for a stove or reluctance to deal with brickwork in general), still want to install a device with high-quality steam and the ability to control climate. Thanks to models with convection control, you can heat a steam room in the shortest possible time, pause heating at a certain temperature, but continue heating the stones. All these functions are adjusted using a valve.

    The category is represented by two models; let’s take a look at each of them.

    Model No. 6РМ2

    Diagram of a working furnace

    This model weighs 230 kg and has a power of 23 kW and does not require a brick lining and allows you to regulate the movement of air flow in the steam room. For this purpose, a special valve is provided, by moving which you can direct the air (and control its speed, of course) either to heat the room or to more intensely heat the stones.

    Oven No. 6РМ2 with convection control

    The dimensions of the structure are 76x45x120 cm, the maximum weight of loaded stones is 90 kg. The model is designed for rooms with a volume of no more than 16 m³. Other features:

  • body wall thickness – 10 mm (in the hottest part of the heater – 20 mm);
  • the depth of the combustion chamber is 70 cm;
  • the model can be equipped with a container (maximum volume – 100 l) and a heat exchanger;
  • the door is cast iron, without glass (other characteristics are identical to those of the models in the line described above).
  • Model No. 6РМ1

    Oven No. 6РМ1 with convection control

    In general terms, the model is no different from the previous one, but there are still some features. Thus, the body dimensions are 80x53x130 cm, weight - 290 kg (with regard to loaded stones - 140 kg), furnace power - 27 kW. The model is designed to heat a room with a volume of no more than 20 m³.

Sauna models

The main advantage of such furnaces is record-breaking fast heating. Thus, a well-chosen wood-burning device can warm up a steam room to the required temperature in about 45-60 minutes. The volume of loaded stones here is small, the maximum capacity of the tank is 50 liters. Additionally, it is possible to install a glass door and a heat exchanger designed to heat the external tank.
