Waffle fabric also perfectly absorbs moisture and is hypoallergenic, while it has good breathability (that is, it allows air to pass well to the body) and dries quickly. Linen and bamboo

Bath towel dresses are also made from linen fabric. You can also take a closer look at steam room robes made from microfiber and bamboo. They absorb water well, and bamboo robes are also good for their antiseptic properties. You won’t have to worry about fungal diseases in the bathhouse wearing this robe. But the cost of such products is much higher than those made from terry material.

Of particular importance for bath accessories is not so much their appearance, but the quality of the material from which the same pareos are sewn. Most often, clothes for a bath are sewn from the following materials:

The advantage of this material is that it allows air to pass through perfectly, and the skin underneath it breathes freely. In addition, pareos made of waffle fabric quickly absorb moisture. But this is also the disadvantage of these models. They are thinner than terry pareos, and therefore get wet quickly, and sitting in them in the bath will not be so comfortable.

Pareos made from linen fabric will not be as soft as terry ones, but they are famous for their antibacterial properties. If you have skin problems or your skin is prone to allergic reactions, a linen pareo will be the healthiest option for a bath. Also, linen-based fabric is good because in the steam room it helps cool the skin, preventing it from overheating, but in the rest room, where the air is cooler, this material will help keep the body warm.

Bamboo pareo fabric looks like terry cloth, as it is just as fluffy. This option perfectly absorbs moisture, retains it inside and provides air ventilation. But its main advantage is its hypoallergenic and antibacterial properties. The disadvantage of such products is their higher price.

Microfiber pareo has high moisture absorption and air permeability. At the same time, the material can be quickly and easily washed and dried. But the disadvantage of this matter lies in its artificial nature. This synthetic fabric is created on the basis of polyester, which is not recommended to be brought into rooms with high temperature conditions, typical of a bathhouse.

Whatever material you prefer, try to choose a bath pareo in white or neutral beige shades. The fewer dyes and patterns on the fabric, the better it is for the bath. You will not know exactly how the dye contained in the material from which your clothes are made may react to high temperatures.

Types of bath kilts

There are male and female versions of steam room kilts. The differences between them are only in the length and width of the products.

• The accessory for men has a shortened length, measuring the distance from the waist to the knees. Embroidery is used as decoration.
• To sew a women's kilt or pareo, the body length from chest to knees is taken into account. This product is made from a single piece of fabric and is fixed over the chest using tape, fasteners or Velcro. Can be decorated with bows and embroidery.

Many manufacturers offer children's kilts in their line, taking into account the age and gender characteristics of the child.

In addition, such a bath accessory can be classified according to the type of fabric that is used to sew it:

• Natural linen. The material has high thermal conductivity and strength properties. At the same time, it is easy to wash, quick to dry and resistant to stretching. The disadvantages of a linen kilt include high maintenance requirements and easy creasing.

Men's and women's options

Today, stores sell three popular options: men's, women's and children's kilts. Each model differs in size.

• A distinctive feature of men's versions is their short length, while the width is much greater than that of women's. This product absorbs moisture well and is suitable for constant use.
• Women's versions are made according to a different principle, so the distance from the upper chest to the knees is taken into account. However, the fastening here is slightly different: a piece of fabric is placed on top of another and attached. But to increase the strength of the connection, appropriate Velcro is used. DIY pareo sewing method

Sewing it will not be difficult, because you don’t even have to make a pattern. It's essentially a regular rectangle with a clasp on one end. But if you are inexperienced in sewing clothes, then still draw a pattern for a kilt or pareo on special cutting paper or on a piece of old wallpaper. Women's, men's and children's models are cut according to the same pattern, the only difference is in the sizes and the method of taking measurements. So, for women's pareos, it is important to know the chest circumference of the future owner of this bath accessory. Based on this parameter, the width of the future product will be built. But the length is traditionally measured from the armpit to the knee, but if desired, you can cut the product shorter or longer.

For women who fit clothing sizes 46–48, you will need to cut out a rectangle of fabric measuring 120 (width) by 80 (length) centimeters. But in order to sew a pareo for a woman of size fifty, you need to measure the width of 150 centimeters. But it is best not to rely on average indicators, but to build a rectangle diagram based on individual sizes. To do this you need to measure three parameters:

• breast volume;
• Waist;
• hip volume.

Based on the data obtained, focus on the largest width. For example, if you have a bust size of 99, a waist size of 65, and a hip size of 105, then you should focus on the largest number. In this case, cut out a rectangle measuring 15 by 20 centimeters with seam allowances (half a centimeter from each edge around the perimeter of the rectangle). To do this, cutting out a rectangle of the future product with scissors, round off the two ends of the lower edge of the pattern.

If you purchased terry cloth for your pareo, then you will definitely need to process the edges of the cut out pattern using an overlocker, otherwise they will constantly crumble. If you cannot use an overlocker, it is better to purchase another, denser fabric that does not stretch or fray.

After finishing the edges of the pareo, fold the fabric over four centimeters from the top edge twice to make a belt. Sew the hem so that a tunnel is formed, into which you will then need to thread the elastic band. The size of the elastic should be 30–35 centimeters shorter than the width of the pareo in order to firmly hold the finished product. Pull the elastic through the waistband and secure it by sewing to the edges. Fold the bottom edge and stitch to make the bottom look neat. Sew a piece of adhesive tape on top of one edge, and Velcro at the same level of the second edge. Overlapping each other, they will securely fix the pareo.

Finish the pocket with an overlocker, fold and stitch its edges to make them look beautiful. Sew it to the pareo on three sides (bottom and two sides).

You won’t surprise anyone with terry bath accessories, but they are not cheap. There are other, more budget-friendly fabrics from which towels and clothes for the sauna are made. Let's take a closer look at what materials are used to sew a kilt.

Mahra

The most popular bath linen, as it is dense, fluffy, pleasant to the touch, absorbs moisture well and has excellent air permeability. Terry warms in drafts and does not retain heat in hot weather. It is durable, practical, and has a large selection of textures and colors. Using a terry kilt, you can run from the pool to the steam room several times, take it off and put it back on your wet body. In this case, the kilt does not have to be endlessly twisted, as happens with thin fabrics. But a very wet product will take a long time to dry. It weighs more than thin fabrics and costs more.

Waffle fabric

Significantly inferior in density to terry fabric, but has its advantages:

• endowed with hygroscopic properties;

Linen
